The working principle of grid connect or grid tie systems are fairly simple. All you need is solar panels, an inverter and an electricity meter.
The solar panels mounted on the roof or on poles and stands built for panel mounting generate solar power (DC or Direct Current), which is fed into an inverter that converts this DC into 240V, 50Hz AC (Alternating Current)
which can be used by the appliances in the household. The solar power generated during the day is first used by the electrical appliances and equipment first and all the unused
solar power is then fed back to the electrical grid for which you will receive a credit from your electricity provider. During the night, when there is no solar power,
the building uses electricity from the supply grid for which the electricity provider charges you for the amount used. There is an option to include batteries to store the unused solar power
generated during the day for use at night. The amount of solar power stored in the batteries depend upon the capacity of the batteries.
